How to give notice on a rented property

May, 2017

Although we would love our tenants to stay in their properties for as long as possible, we understand situations change.

When it’s time to give notice on your property, there is an important process to follow.  Not adhering to this can result in the tenancy lasting longer than you had thought.

Your tenancy will be set for a minimum term, usually this is 6 or 12 months. After this time, you can give one full month’s written notice. The most important thing to remember is that we will ONLY accept notices by post or by hand.

Your notice should include:

  • Your name
  • The property address
  • The date that you wish to leave by (this must be 1 calendar month)
  • It must be signed by ALL named tenants

We recommend you hand deliver the letter to our Property Management branch at Spinnaker House in Hempsted.

If you decide to post it we strongly recommend you contact us within a couple of days after to ensure we have received your notice. We cannot accept notices verbally.

If you have any questions on how to end a tenancy please speak to our friendly property management team on 01452 504813.
