Following a competition which called on some of the best interior designers in the country, the winning design of the reception area at Provender, Bakers Quay has now been finalised.
Provender is a new development of 47 one and two bed luxury waterside apartments situated at the prestigious Bakers Quay, Gloucester Docks.
The impressive interior was designed by Monica Lenore of Monica Lenore Designs, Gloucestershire’s finest, award-winning interior design firm, offering fresh, bold and spectacular ideas for commercial and residential spaces.
“As soon as you walk through the entrance doors of Provender Mill, we wanted to create a space that reminded you of the history of the original building and connected you with your surroundings”, said Monica Lenore.
“As important as history is to this design, we also wanted to create a reception space that reflected the upscale nature of the project. We wanted a modern and vibrant feel that mirrors the exciting developments happening in the surrounding community.”
The Provender Mill reception is intending to include reclaimed wood, environmentally friendly LED lighting, porcelain tile cladding, designer pendant lighting, artwork, bronze tables, a velvet sofa and metallic porcelain tile floor throughout. These items were designed to celebrate the heart and soul of the original building by reflecting its industrial accents, colours and textures.
Monica added, “Many residents will remember the iconic blue coloured grain shaft and elevator. We wanted to preserve the memory of that historic part of the building and have recreated the tone and feel of that in a stunning 12-panel feature mural. The organic nature of the wall will reflect not only the iconic colour but also the texture of the wood and metal that featured in the original building.

American-born Director, Monica Lenore and her team, bring a wealth of experience to every design with an extensive portfolio of impressive projects throughout the UK, Europe and the US. In addition to working with Rokeby Merchants Developments at the Gloucester Quays, Monica Lenore is currently working to develop a luxury holiday venue in Spain and designing a corporate headquarters and training centre for a multinational aesthetics company in the UK.
Michael Chicken of the developer says ‘We are delighted with Monica’s design for our reception area. We wish this reception to be the best in the Docks providing an open modern space yet with more than a nod to the history of the location.’
Adrian Goodall of the developer says, ‘The building is now well advanced and we are looking for the reception area to be ready when Provender opens its doors in July 2018.’
